Expressions was established in June, 2011 by Lee Mayberry and Beth Webber two artists and

entrepreneurs looking to showcase, promote and sell unique handmade items produced by a variety of

local artists/artisans. It is a working cooperative where each member shares in the financial and working

responsibilities of making the cooperative store function. The Cooperative is a corporation with a non-

profit state designation. It is a member owned business. Each member owns equal shares of

Expressions, and has an equal vote in its operation. Each member is provided equal space in the shop.

Each member is an equal and valuable partner in this venture and respects the opinions, creativity and

originality of each artisan in the co-op. It is through this cooperative spirit that we strive to grow as a

group and individually as artists.

The cooperative operates as a democratic entity with one member: one vote for each membership with

majority rule (2/3 rule for dismissal). Each member participates in the day-to-day maintenance and

running of the shop. If two people are contributing to one membership to produce their product, only one

of those people has a vote and is the active sitting member. Members take on specific roles as

described below to share the responsibility of growing the cooperative.

No licensed products may be sold in the shop and each product must be at least 65% crafted by hand or

with the use of hand tools to maintain the integrity of handmade artisan and artist products in the shop,

of which each member is promised when applying for membership.

These bylaws have been written to document member responsibilities and shop procedures and any

changes in this document must be voted on by membership.
